Referrers

No, you don’t to be referred by your GP.  If you are over the age of 18 and are registered with an NHS GP surgery, you can self-refer for cardiac diagnostic tests and MSK ultrasound scan.

Simply book a convenient appointment here.  One of our specialist clinicians will contact you ahead of your appointment to discuss your referral and check that the test or scan is appropriate for your symptoms.

Your GP or other healthcare provider can refer you for private diagnostic testing by emailing info@contacthealth.co.uk and we will make the necessary arrangements with them.

After your examination, your report will be sent to you (and your referrer if applicable) securely via email.  If you have self-referred, a copy of the report will also be sent to your GP.  This is usually sent within 24 – 48 hours unless a second opinion is required, in which case you will be informed of this, and the short wait involved.

The Specialist Sonographer’s report will be sent to you and your GP or referrer within 48 hours of your scan, unless a second opinion is required from our Consultant Radiologist. If so, this will be explained immediately following the scan, and will not incur any additional costs. As with all diagnostic tests, ultrasound has some limitations and therefore cannot diagnose every potential problem in the affected area/s.

Excellent patient care is at the heart of our practice. All our clinicians are fully qualified and accredited, and our clinic is CQC-registered.

There is no upper weight limit that will prevent you from having an ultrasound scan, however, the image quality is negatively affected by an increased body mass index (BMI). This means that a higher BMI could cause difficulty in obtaining clear images. Our sonographers will always do their best to get clear results. If we are unable to obtain clear images due to BMI, our report will indicate this.
